But, I do prefer the OEM mirror but that's just me.Introducing the Enhanced CoverShield – Unrivaled Protection with a 3-Year Warranty!Įmbark on a new era of automotive protection with our enhanced Covershield – now fortified with a 3-year warranty. Ebay and Amazon have after market mirrors, the lowest price I could find was $65, although twice the price it would probably be worth it to avoid the hassle I put myself through. Later I will probably custom print a small cover for it to cover the wires and mount but for now, MEH, it's ok.Ĭonclusion: I do not recommend going this route of installing an OEM Auto-dimming Mirror. Once I took the cover off to see if I could modify it to make it not slant I realized it looks just fine without it. Picture 4 shows what it looks like now, without the cover. What you are not seeing is the fact that the round mount that I replaced my rectangular slide-on mount with was mounted just a bit not level thereby making the bottom of the cover slanted, CRAP! Also, the mount and wires could be seen from the outside, it was very ugly. The cover was just short of the headliner edge, as Maxwell Smart would say "missed it by that much". Picture 3 shows what it looked like installed with the mount covers attached. ![]() Picture 2 shows the part I had cut and my 3D printed bottom I glued on, from the outside it seems passable. Picture 1 shows the whole Mirror Mount Cover, the divided section on the left was continuous before I modified it, but you can see why I wanted to shorten it. Both times I took out my overhead console I broke tabs, thank God for Super Glue though, they are holding like new now.īelow are the pictures of my "adventure". The process to take the windsheild button off a windsheild was a bit nerve racking to me and trying to get the cover for the mirror mount was a pain that, in the end, was not even necessary IMHO. That all sounds fine but there was a fair amount of pain to get this thing to where it is now. Anyway, after taking my windsheild button off and attaching the button from the C-Max on my windsheild and taping into the 12V and Gnd wires in the overhead console, it works great! This mirror came off a C-Max, with rain sensor that extended down to about the middle of the windsheild, eww. So I bought one at the local Salvage Yard for $35, had to go back later and get the windsheild button. ![]() My 2014 SE did not come with a autodimming rearview mirror, I had one in an earlier car I owned and loved this thing. ![]()
